Ferrous Metal Sampling

Ferrous Solutions operates induction furnaces to support our blend scrap segment.

FSI has had excellent results melting a wide variety of ferrous scrap metals including: turnings, cast iron borings, steel pit scraps, and a number of iron based materials.

Dual thickness (lollypop) samplers are drawn through an aspiration device to ensure uniform sample internal and surface quality. After cooling, surface grinding is perfomed to provide a clean, smooth surface required for spectral analysis.

Our use of a proprietary starter system allows Ferrous Solutions to melt samples that others cannot.

   2) We heat the sample to a full liquid state

   3) We aspirate a sample

   4) Pouring off extra metal

   5) Prepare the aspirated sample for Spectro analysis

   6) Use the Spectromax optical emissions analyzer

   7) Final product is full chemical analysis of scrap metal.
